The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to “protect human health and the environment,” including initiatives that ensure all Americans have clean air, land, and water.

Field Environmental Instruments’ ongoing role with Tetra Tech, a California-based provider of consulting and engineering services, helps the agency achieve those goals. FEI provides environmental monitoring instrumentation for the EPA’s Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) contract for Region 5. The region includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, plus 35 tribal nations.

FEI’s ability to find, acquire, and deploy equipment for environmental-related responses enables Tetra Tech and the US EPA to arrive at work sites knowing the right tools for the job are on hand. FEI delivered supplies used during the recovery of the tank barge Argo, which sank in 1937 and was recovered in 2015 leaking toxic benzol (a petroleum distillate) and crude oil. Tetra Tech also enlisted FEI to fill orders for equipment and supplies used during the cleanup of wildfires in Northern and California.

Because of FEI’s expertise in acquiring monitoring instruments and tools of the trade, Tetra Tech team members are able to concentrate on other tasks.
